Take a little bit of Steven Curtis Chapman mix it with some Third Day and Chris Tomlin and throw it into a youth band, and you will have a pretty good idea of what Chivalry3s sound is like. Chivalry3 is a group made up of four teenage guys seeking to lay their lives down for the kingdom of God, by serving Him with their gifts. They started picking up instruments and playing together in 2001 but the band really didnt start to take off till the spring of 2003. We used to dream about forming a band, and God put people in our lives that thought we had the potential to go somewhere. God is blessing our ministry and we have a great time serving Him, says Timothy the bass player. All the members of Chivalry3 are related, Luke (18) Daniel (20) and Stephen (15) are brothers, and Timothy (17) is their cousin. The close relationship between the members gives the band a very strong sense of unity and has enabled them to have a more flexible schedule. Also, with all the members having grown up learning music together, the band plays with a musical excellence and togetherness that few youth bands have today.Though the band plays very well together, it is their catchy songs and powerful lyrics, rather than their musical talents that truly make this band stand out as a potentially powerful force in todays music industry. Their music, ranging from driving rock songs to soft worshipful anthems, appeals to both the young and old, and reaches the large audience of youth who want a teenage band that doesnt just play hard rock. All of C3s songs are written and composed by the band members. During their concerts C3 members give their personal testimonies as they introduce songs and relate with the audience. They share honestly about Gods faithfulness in tough times, affirm personal vows of abstinence until marriage, declare Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation and express a strong desire not to waste the time that God has given them to serve others. Because they are teens, C3 connects with teen audiences. They are not ashamed to speak Gods truth and challenge their peers to lay their lives down for the kingdom of God. Chivalry3s commitment is to music ministry. This means that the most important emphasis is placed upon spiritually ministering to the people that God places before them. Music is the tool that God has given C3 to have as a platform for sharing the gospel and ministering to the spiritual needs of people. Their declaration is to courageously live for the honor of God. Their goal is to glorify God with everything He has given them and to be used by Him to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Over the past two and half years the band has been given many opportunities to do just that. They have played alongside artists such as Mark Shultz, performed songs live on the radio, played at countless churches, coffee houses, and festivals all over Virginia, led the worship for two Teen Mania mission trips, and have done a two week tour in Taiwan known as Jammin in the City. God is continuing to bless their ministry and they are looking forward to serving Him wherever He may lead.
