The best there is, was, and will ever be

About Me

In a day and age where the hip hop music industry is filled with the darkness of the streets, and the shadows of the ghetto, out of the darkness, a light begins to shine and illuminate all around it. That light is Jorai. Jorai is a Hebrew name meaning: He Whom Jehovah Teaches, and that is just what Jorai does on the mic. With the writing skills of a seasoned poet, and the rap skills of the illest lyricist, Jorai's raps paint a vivid picture of the scenes that are his life. All of this in an effort to show the listener that hip hop is more than just guns, alcohol and women, but its a way to reach, and teach the listener that there is a side of life that is seldom seen or exploited by the music industry.
Jorai's lyrical dexterity and spiritually conscience rhymes are reminiscent of that of Common, Andre from Outkast, and Mos Def. Jorai brings the swagger and confidence of a battle emcee and blends it with the poetic prose of one of the Last Poets to paint his lyrical and spiritual masterpieces on the mic. Born Samuel L Williams, in 1981, the majority of his musical influences were gospel groups like the Winans, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Commissioned, and Al Green. When I was coming up, the music had to mean something. It had to make you feel something inside before it was respected. Thats how it was in the church. After hearing his first hip hop record, Fugees; The Score he knew he had to get involved in the music. Out of this Dow Chi Clan Productions LLC was born. Now Jorai stands poised to bring back some of what hip hop has lost, its heart.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)..
