Role-playing games like D&D and all things Tolkien are my chief hobbies (not ALL gamers are 30-year old fat guys living in their mothers basement!). I am artistic and sensetive, and am comfortable doing nearly anything in the right company. I like going to concerts when my bands are in town, and sampling good movies is always fun, too. Painting and doing other lame crafts are always a good way to waste time as well.I am an avid learner and try to educate myself as much as possible so I don't suck like most other people. I also enjoy making fun of Jesus, because he's a real douche-bag.
Anyone who isn't loud, ignorant, or contrived! I have a profound abhorrence of socialising with phoney or stupid people. Simple common courtesies and decency (although deceny is hard to define) are requisite, as is a love of the 'nerdly-arts' and sobriety. I find intellegence, speaking ability, and good humour the most attractive traits in people, and try to surround myself with people who think the same way.
RUSH! Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, Tool, Pain of Salvation, Marillion, RPWL, Dream Theatre, Spock's Beard (but not Neal Morse, he's a douche), No-Man, The Mars Volta, Opeth, Sigor Ros, Liquid Tension Experiment, Riverside, Ayreon, Anekdoten, Chroma Key, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentecles, Yes, Wagner, etc. Basically prog/metal and art rock. Pop/hip-hop/country music literally gives my anxiety attacks. Steven Wilson is my musical hero.
The reigning king now is LOR. LA Confidential, Gladiator, Alien/s, Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Ghost Busters, Conan, the Abyss, Indiana Jones, Seven Samurai, Evil Dead, Lawrence of Arabia, Kill Bill, Young Frankenstein, Dark Crystal, Caddyshack, Last of the Mohicans, the Naked Gun, etc. I am all about the overblown epics, good comedies, and artsy stuff.
MST3000, the Daily Show, and the Simpsons! Is there anything else worth watching? I think it would be very fun to line every member of those reality dating shows up in a row, and slap them all for being such lame douchebags.
LOR by far (particularily TT, ROTK, and the Silmarillion), anything by Richard Dawkins, Koike and Kojima (Lone Wolf and Cub), Robert E. Howard, H.P. Lovecraft, Neitzche. Dan Simmons' Hyperion novels are pretty sweet, too.
Bud White, Steven Wilson, Conan, Robert Fripp, Ogami Itto, HPLovecraft, Tolkien, REHoward, Maximus, Satan, Ninjas and Samurai, and anyone else who is smart enough to point their finger in the eye of pop-culture and tradition in defiance and be themselves.
