Ebon Tale and their stubborn “do-everything-yourself†approach started in a Stockholm suburb in 1998. The band’s first gig was at their own high school graduation. Since then the three members have been firmly determined to reach new goals in their own pace. The sound has gone from rambling pop music to a heavier and more ambient sound where the three feel at home. Noisy vs. delicate, monotonous vs. dynamic. Ebon Tale do not hesitate to let the music take the time it requires.
The permanent trio is driven by the same reasons as always: the passion for and the frustration over the music as culture, friend and machine. This has resulted in numerous live performances; e.g. a tour with independent rock acts in 2002 as well as touring in Sweden and abroad on their own.
Ebon Tale want to capture the same organic sound and vivid feeling on their records as they deliver on stage. Therefore, the band mainly record their songs live in the studio. They often use first takes and are sparse with additional overdubs. Ebon Tale are a trio, and they want to sound like one.
Ebon Tale’s records are released on their own record label Dusklight Records. The band do their own booking and distribution through the company as well.
