At age 16 with lest than a dollar and a dream LUCE GORDON professionally known as LUCE CANNON left the projects of East New York Brooklyn to pursue a career in the Entertainment Business. Under the guidance of the teen group NEW EDITION , Luce signed with MCA RECORDS in 1991. Having greater success as a producer, Luce quickly became affiliated with artist such as JODECI , NAUGHTY BY NATURE & 2PAC . In 1994 Luce began Managing rapper AZ who introduced him to NAS , who at the time was simply a struggling Rapper trying to find his way. In 1996 Luce discovered R&B sensation CALVIN RICHARDSON signing him to a record deal with UPTOWN RECORDS . Dissatisfied with the same old circle of recycled deals, In 1999 Luce set out for bigger fish and moved to Los Angeles.
Shortly after he touched down in Hollywood LUCE partnered with music video director JEFF BYRD to create a Production Company dedicated to developing Video and Film Ideas. After cutting his teeth on a handful of successful videos, Luce earned himself a Producer credit on the BET movie BOOK OF LOVE .
After learning about Luce’s success in Hollywood, NAS called on the genius of his old friend to produce the video for his first single off the NASTADAMUS Album. Proving to be an innovator Luce made history by producing the first 3D music video ever in music video history.
The critically acclaimed video shot to number one and made it on MTV’s list of most expensive videos. In 2001 Nas & Luce teamed up once again, to write and produce their debut film “ SACRED ”. Loosely based on both their lives, the story revolved around a small time manager who moves his girl to Hollywood in hopes of pursuing their dreams and making it big. The couple beats the odds and just as their dreams begin to come true they realize how fast they’ve lost everything they had. Anchored in the grimy world of Black Hollywood, SACRED received A+ reviews at the Magic Johnson Film Festival for chronicling the corrosive effects of success.
In 2002 Luce returned to his Management roots by taking on ALTON & IRULAN , two cast mates from MTV’s Real World In Vegas… Best known for having the first Black Love affair on MTV... In 2003 Luce was hired by the Emmy Award winning KONWISER BROTHERS to write a theatrical spin on their award winning Rucker Park Basketball Documentary, “ ON HALLOWED GROUND "
In 2005 Luce Cannon added yet another credit to his resume by producing the theme song for the Newline Cinema Film “ KINGS RANSOM " Starring Anthony Anderson & Jay Mohr. Following in the footsteps of the greats who have documented their life experiences in published works, in 2006 Luce released an audio book on CD entitled " THE BLUEPRINT 2 HIPHOP " an insightful playbook containing the secrets to getting a Record Deal.
