About Me

..
The current gig: Editorial and creative director of the legendary WEIRD TALES , the world's very first magazine devoted to the literature of the fantastic. We're revamping and re-energizing for the new century, just in time for the magazine's 85th anniversary -- come take a look! I also design book covers and such for our publisher's affiliated fantasy/science-fiction lines, Juno Books and Prime Books.
I'm proud to serve on the board of the Interstitial Arts Foundation , a nonprofit group dedicated to cultivating and promoting weird, hard-to-categorize art that falls outside the boundaries and definitions of familiar genres or mediums.
Once upon a time, I was a local culture journalist in Pittsburgh, editing WQED's Pittsburgh Magazine and the now-defunct InPittsburgh Weekly. Here's my favorite thought from a favorite Pittsburgher, Fred Rogers: "Our world hangs like a magnificent jewel in the vastness of space. Every one of us is a part of that jewel, a facet of that jewel. And in the perspective of infinity, our differences are infinitesimal. We are intimately related. May we never even pretend that we are not."
