Malcom was another great person who has had an effect on my way of thinking. I wish they would teach about him in every school! If you haven't listened to his speeches that are on audio, you really should. Malcom went from petty criminal to a member of the nation of Islam to praying at Mecca with people of all colors and ethnicity. Malcom differed view with King's non-violent resistance. Malcom argued that non-violence couldn't work if police dogs, night sticks and water hoses were used on women and children. He also disagreed with the Civil Rights movement. He believed that King taking Civil Rights to the Supreme Court was like taking the crime to the criminal's court and letting the criminal himself be the judge. Malcom's vision was to take the United States in front of the United Nations for HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS. I believe that was probably why he was murdered.The Holy Quran changed my life and made me into a man. It opened my understanding to so much and I thank God daily for that gift. I didn't even know what I was pulling off that bookshelf that day 14 years ago. I read it for the first time while I was reading the Bible (OT and NT). For those people who have believed the lies and slander about Islam, all I can say to you is that you can't always believe what you are told. Sometimes you have to check for yourself. The Quran talks about the same prophets that the Bible speaks of and Jesus is actually the most quoted prophet in the Quran.It's really all about the youth......and we gotta feed them knowledge. It's very sad that we live in a society where young girls want to grow up to be video hoes and young boys want to be ganstas. The other day I saw a 6 year old girl mimicking one of the booty shaking rap videos. Sad......It's no wonder that there is an epidemic of police brutality and police murder. The qualifications for becoming a police officer (over-seer) is a GED and the age of 18. That's crazy!! Police are murdering unarmed people in every city it seems like. And it seems like they always get paid vacation for it.Frederick Douglass had a great impression on me. Two things from his autobiography that really stood out to me. One was his statement that the most cruel, most barbaric slave owners were the most devout Christians. Two was when Frederick Douglass got sent to a specialist in breaking rebellious slaves to work that farm for a year. The slaveowner came into a barn where Douglass was working and tried to physically assault Douglass but Douglas fought back. The two went fist for fist for over an hour and the fight ended in a draw. After that, the slave owner would yell sometimes but he never again tried to put his hands on Douglass.
