Bleed

About Me

It was the winter of 2000 when two friends formerly of local bands in the past decided it was time to re-emerge on the local music scene. And with shots in hand & blaring Go-Go music behind them, Bleed was born. The brain child of vocalist Greg Boccardo & bassist Chuck McNally, it was up to them to now piece the puzzle together to find the right musicians. First found was original guitarist Frank Day whom was a friend from the past also & was looking to form a band. The threesome started writing material then found drummer Mike Cappella who responded to their ad. Once the line-up was completed, Bleed entered the studio & recorded their first CD release “For You” in 2001, after three months of being together as a band. This first CD immediately put Bleed on the map as the new player on the local Philadelphia music scene. With an incredible CD release party at their favorite strip club Cheerleaders, plus a break-out hit “Bleed”, Bleed was here to bring a new hard rock sound with the fun of a high energy rock show forgotten in recent years.Following the success of their first CD & hitting the local club circuit hard, Bleed decided it was time to head back into the studio to write a follow-up to “For You”. Bleed went back to Studio Crash in 2002 & released their second CD, “Exposed”. Again, another huge CD release party & more success brought excellent reviews & exposure. At this point Bleed was developing an excellent following & playing all the top venues. At this point it was decided that it was time to add a second guitarist. With help from a mutual friend, Rich Meader joined the band. Now as a five piece, Bleed gained it’s new distinctive heavier sound. With a new sound & a rapidly growing fan base as well as gaining media interest, Bleed decided to go for broke & release yet another CD that would top the previous ones. This time they decided to hire Mike Harmon from Studio Crash to fully produce a full length CD. After six months of studio time, Bleed released “Fallen From Grace” in 2003. This CD took Bleed to the next level in media & label attention. It also catapulted Bleed to one of the top acts in the area, playing venues no other original band had played & developing a fan base like no other original band had done in years. Bleed was in demand, not only for their live show but also their fan base, packing each show with their hard partying antics. When Bleed entered the club, followed by their entourage, the infamous Bleed Girls, the party had just begun..and the show was as good offstage as it was onstage! The year 2004 brought change to Bleed. The band parted ways with longtime guitarist Frank Day & looked for the right replacement. Luckily, the wait wasn’t long. Again a mutual friend had recommended guitarist AJ . AJ had seen the band live previously and jumped at the chance to join an established working band. Bringing with him a newer-edge style, the band took a more aggressive route to their writing & decided once again it was time to head back to the studio. Once again returning to Studio Crash, the band created a totally new sound for Bleed, more raw & heavy. Their new CD “Miss Alcohol” was released in 2005 to immediate success. Once again, media interest as well as major label interest was there, but to no avail..Late 2005 was a major turning point for Bleed. With over five years on the local circuit & four CDs but no major label deal, Bleed was burnt out. They parted ways with guitarist AJ & used a few guitarists to fill in shows, but the magic seemed to be gone. In 2006, with the local music scene interest gone, Bleed decided to disband & take a break. They pursued individual side projects until spring of 2007 when the side project BloodRedBroken brought the members back together. It was then that the spark of chemistry that originated Bleed became felt again. As a twist of fate, their former guitarist AJ had come to a BloodRedBroken show hungry to start over & Bleed was again re-united. With their powerhouse line-up back in place, Bleed decided yet once again was time to re-claim their spot back on the scene & record a new kick-ass CD, this time with new producer Tony Brattelli of MegaProductions Studio. With an entirely new sound & attitude, stay tuned & watch out…Bleed’s back! ..
