Dead Seriousity

Let's get amish about it and raise a barn of sound

About Me

collaborate (k-lb-rt) intr.v. collaborated, collaborating, collaborates
1. To work together, especially in a joint intellectual effort.
2. To cooperate treasonably, as with an enemy occupation force in one's country.
Wow, I went to dictionary.com to make sure I spelled collaborate right. I was surprised to find that the second definition bluntly alludes to subversion. With this official definition of collaboration, I declare Dead Seriousity a sovereign nation outside of time and space. Maybe if we stockpile enough intellectual/musical weapons, the government will go E-Waco on us.
Yeah....This is basically a landfill of ideas. Dead Seriousity is a way to embelish upon the ideas of other people musically, without regard for copyright or philosophical intellectual property issues. All of the tracks on this page are here for the explicit purpose of being messed with by you. And hopefully they will inspire you to do something you've never thought of. I guess one could argue that the purpose of Dead Seriousity is to half-heartedly explore the universal musical statement that a group of people make. The only "rule" is that you re-contribute what you've done with the sounds here for others to elaborate on. In a totally PC and non-anarchistic way, I think groups of people tend to work things out intuitively. On that topic, I think that if you use a small part of any of these songs in the future in your own meddling, and call that work your own, that is philosophically legitimate - as long as you're not a dick about it.
I propose the following tentative plans for Dead Seriousity:
..1. If you have ANY ideas for how better to collaborate here please tell me.
..2. Send in a recording of youself humming one tone into a microphone, and we will make it music.
..3. Send in some juicy samples, like bandsaws, or cars,or people, or yourself tapping a pencil, or something from "reality."
..4. Do ANYTHING to ANYTHING here and send it back.
..5. Improvise something SPONTANEOUSLY, include "mistakes", you won't be embarrassed.
..6. When we have collected enough sonic goodies, it becomes all of our jobs to compile them into something that represents THEM together; as opposed to our own take on what THEY are.
..7. The ridiculousness and arguable paradoxicality of statement 6 was intentional.
If you want to send in something you can use www.yousendit.com and send me the link it gives you. It's free and super fast.
Awesome.

New Non-Glamorous Drum track
