"XLS are a 4 piece UK based Hip Hop act from Essex. Made up of 3 producers - Fazer, BM Boo and D-Colt, each with their own unique sound, and 1 lyricist - Mister Stuta (S.T). They started out as a two piece act about 2 years ago (Fazer and Mister Stuta) and then progressed into what they are today collecting BM Boo and D-Colt along the way. They have gigged at many local and a few not so local venue's and have had a good response from the crowds. They are trying to create their own style of sound using elements from HipHop/Grime/Electronica and Drum n Bass, and they're calling it 'UK Grim' Hop."
CLICK HERE to listen to MORE 'XLS' TRACKS"Although each member of 'XLS' has been involved in music for many years, The XL-syndicate wasn't formed until early 2003. It was then when Fazer was introduced to Stuta through a mutual friend, and they began to play Drum n Bass set's together.
As a DnB duo they started to play local internet, pirate radio stations and clubs as 'XLUK'. After a couple of years they found they wanted to do more with music then just play live sets, and coming from different musical backgrounds, they put their hand to production to try and create something abit more unique.
Reverting back to S.T's original love for HipHop, Fazer began to produce dark beats for him to rhyme over, one track in particular 'Battle Lyrics' - using guitar riff's, recieved a high amount of interest from the crowd's it was played to, it was different, and people was listening... It was this interest that sparked the start of a more experimental take on music. An idea was created, but a distinct sound was yet to be found. It was at this point that BigManBoo was asked to join the collective. As a 3 piece they worked together on material but thought something was still missing - cue D-Colt. Now, with 3 different musical influences working on beat's, and S.T's verbal variation's and lyric's, the full distinct XLS sound was created."
