I’ve just recently discovered this artist, and I am very glad that I did. It was a random Myspace message, you know, the kind you usually delete? However, I was hard up for some new tunes, so I gave the link a click and crossed my fingers.
Not only was I blown away with what I heard, but in the week since the sound first reached my ears, it seems to get better every time I play the tracks. Like a clever insect, coiling itself around my ear drum, infecting my senses with its delicious, poison rhythm.
“Samâ€, he calls himself, the singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, is not currently listing a label on the profile page. Nor does he list a genre, hence the above (I think?) following my guess. You may be tempted to toss him on the pile with the hordes of other “NIN wannabesâ€, but personally, there’s just something about Sam’s method that sets him apart from those losers.Lyrically, it took me a few plays through the first track to seal the deal.
“Childhood Memory†has an interesting quality to it. I can only stab guesses as to what he is talking about, but the underlying feeling he intended sneaks into the marrow with ease. “In the Gutter†is my second pick for your first ride through. The lyrics progress with the build up as he layers each new sound into the mix. Clean and simple, but it leaves a dirty after- glow smile on my face.
Kudos to you, Sam. I anxiously wait for whatever you will unleash upon my ears in the future.
