NEW LOST WORLD

About Me

THE BAND: Is not active any more, but the songs still live.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, New Lost World initially started out in 2003 (although named "Rags") as a musical side project of Silas Bjerregaard, who at the time played in an experimental funk/soul-hop band called Kevin Beige, but wanted to record a bunch of his own songs that did not fit into the style of this band. The first two musicians he contacted for this purpose were David Klinke and Valdemar Have, more or less self taught guitar virtuosos from the neighbourhood, who shared Silas new found love for artists such as Gilian Welch, Niel Young and Nick Drake. While working on the new material, it became obvious however that bass and drums would be necessary to complete the recordings and so, only two weeks before studio start in September 2004, bass player Anders Møller and drummer Rasmus Lund, both students at the Royal Danish Conservatory, where headhunted and recruited for the job. After hearing the demo material they immediately accepted and learned the rhythm tracks of 6 songs, in practically a matter of hours. The results of these recordings, the good vibe at rehearsals, and subsequent successful gigs around Copenhagen, convinced Silas, David and Valdemar to persuade Anders and Rasmus into becoming permanent members of the group. As it turned out, not much convincing was necessary. The September recordings were then distributed into the music industry much at random, and here they caught the ear of Mickey Modern of ModernWood Management. He contacted the band in April 2005 and in January 2006, after negotiation were settled, he began working with the band.
Since their first recordings, the five developed a solid and distinguished band spirit, both among themselves but more importantly in their music. Members of the band have been, and are active in many other musical styles from funk and hiphop, to bluegrass, jazz and electro. New Lost World works like a magnifying glass, focusing impressions from a globalized Americana, a worldwide folk style, various forms of mellow and progressive rock, and even your occasional Pop emotion into a concentrated and unique expression. This mixture shares elements with each member of the group. After everybodys attitude, taste and opinion, has been mashed up in the band-blender, what comes out can only be justifiably referred to as New Lost World.
Silas, Anders and Rasmus like milk in their coffee. David and Valdemar prefer their coffee black as a coal chamber on a clouded night.
Cheers
