"Ask yourself why you do something. If you don't like the answer, Don't Do It anymore"

About Me

Self appointed number one Star Wars fan in Bakersfield. I may not know every single term, trivia question, or spaceship identification number (I know most of them!), but deep down, I am THE #1 fan in the area.
I've lived in Bakersfield my whole life (excluding a few months in Northridge while my dad went to college). I went to Readyland preschool, Col Nichols, Chipman Jr High, Highland High School (class of 1987), Bakersfield College, then to CSUB, then hired as a teacher/coach at Stockdale High School. I've been at Stockdale for 14 years now.
I met my wife, Alice, at BC. I was sophomore president, she was on the ASBC court. We knew each other for three years, became best friends then married on June 26, 1993. We had our own apartment for a year, where we bought our first pet; Captain Tiberius Sisko. A black/white/brown Cocker. Sisko for short. We moved to our first home in 1994, right behind the JV baseball field at Centennial High School. In 1998, our first daughter was born and in 2000 our second daughter was born. Later that year we moved to our current home, just minutes away from my work and my wife's (which is danged nice!). That same year, I was "let go" from my coaching position at Stockdale. A post I held since the school opened. I won't go into the details, I just get MAD!
In 2004, our third daughter was born and just before that, we made sure that no more would be arriving.. I'll let your mind wander on that one.
I'm very happy in all that I've accomplished as a teacher. Teacher of the year twice, and nominated for the top counselor teacher award once. I think I've made a difference. Time will only tell.

My Interests

STAR WARS: Mainly the original three movies, but all the literature (novels, and comics) that have come out since. The prequels.. they're just a footnote.
9: The Number Nine means a lot to me. It was my sports number in school and in my adult sporting ventures. My daughters like the number too, and I try to pick up any clothing that has the number on it. If you find any (XL size), let me know!
The San Diego Padres! My underdog team. They've been my team since 1983-84. When Steve Garvey left the Dodgers to San Diego, I went with him and brought all my fandom with me. I've liked them ever since. yes, even the many bad years.
Sports & Activities: I played 4 years of HS baseball, 2 soccer, and 1 year of Jr High Football (stupid coaches). I'm a badminton player at heart and love to DDR (Disney style). Currently, I enjoy my summer softball team that I've been on for the last 15 years.

I'd like to meet:

George Lucas; because my imagination would be nothing without him.
Tony Gwynn & Steve Garvey: Just to talk baseball
Vin Scully: The only Dodger that is worth a darn. It will be a VERY SAD DAY when he passes
Steve Burns: Anyone who can make kids and adults smile while talking to an invisible blue dog..is okay in my book.

Music:

Blinded by the Light (Manfred Mann and his Earth Band) ..1 song. All Elton John & Billy Joel stuff (two piano's and the two of them, classic), Video Killed the Radio Star, most songs with "superman" in it, I love music soundtracks (I'm a dork) like Mamma Mia, Star Wars, CATS, Phantom, Joseph, Evita, Hairspray. But I like to listen to just about anything that makes me humm or tap my foot (I sort of like that techno DDR stuff too).. Heavy Metal and rap actually just make me mad. Knowing that people with an IQ of a piece of driftwood can make millions by trying to rhyme, then getting shot in some gang thing, drives me crazy.

Movies:

Star Wars Episodes IV, V, & VI. Princess Bride, Godfather I & II, Airplane, Field of Dreams, The Emperor's new Groove, Kiki's Delivery Service & 40 year old Virgin (my wife says its a biography of me)

Television:

Not a lot of TV on at my house. If its not a netflix movie, its cartoons for the kids or the Wii is playing.

Books:

Lord of the Rings (read all three in 2 weeks), Harry Potter books, and the entire Star Wars catalog of novels.
My taped version of our rally dance and below is another one I found on You-Tube. Enjoy and don't laugh too hard

Heroes:

SUPER HEROES: my wife of 15 years.. Alice is my personal hero and I'd do anything for her and our three daughters, our young padawans.

My Blog

music
