I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a drummer/bandleader and I manage authentic Detroit Blues and old school R&B singers like Alberta Adams and I also have a Detroit R&B Review that features Alberta with Johnnie Bassett and Thornetta Davis. I work often with my Trio / Quartet which often feature local players like Keith Kaminski (sax) or Ralph Tope (guitar). My new project with my old pal James O'Donnell -- the O'Donnell / Spangler Nonet, which we now call the Planet D Nonet. I also do some great gigs with my pal's Erich Goebel & James Cloyd. Another project is booking & backing Sir Mack Rice, the man that wrote "Mustang Sally." My Blues and R&B band is called RJ's Rhythm Rockers and it features Paul Carey on guitar and Shawn McDonald on piano & vocals & Mike Marshall on bass. We back all of my blues amd R&B acts. In addition to the drums, I also play various percussion instruments like the congas. Music has taken me 1/2 way around the world so I'm a pretty lucky guy. I dig living here in Detroit -- we have a pretty unique music scene which I am proud to be a part of.Check out my site: www.spanglerbluesproductions.com
