Since his early beginning, Diego Presas a.k.a. Dj Deathmind was influenced by the 80’s industrial sound, captivated by bands like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, And One, or KMFDM to name a few. Around the year 1999 he started visiting places like K2, Ave Porco, Morocco and others venues which made him become interested in the darkest roots of electronic music: EBM, Techno and Drum & Bass. Later on, Hard techno and Hard trance events finished waking up his innate desire, being 2001 the year when he managed to get a set of decks and began his formation as a professional DJ.
That’s how artists such as Phil Reynolds, Nick Sentience, Eddie Halliwell, Flutlicht, Alphazone or Dumonde assembled the style that represents him the best: Hard Trance. In fact, his participation at the Deejay Contest organized by X4 Radio in 2002 placed him in the final of the month. Subsequently, in 2003 he got his first dates in an underground club called “Sublow”, in an after hour party named “Wicked”, and at the festival “Recycle Your Mind”. Furthermore, he began organizing his own events sharing residence with Dj Carlos Ruiz (winner of the 3rd Music Contest to play with Dj Tiesto) in places like “Nexus” and “Ultralow”.
However, his major achievement in 2003 was the creation of actual underground event “Rise up!”, a monthly party that took place in “Uniclub” and “El Dorado” till 2006. During those three years Deathmind reached a faithful and significant audience, offering a fresh and interesting option to the underground scene. Actually, he is booked by several undergrounds events like “Fun & music”, “Nightclubber Trance Sessions”, “Digital Mantra”, “Underbeat” and “Out Of System”.
In 2006 he started working as a producer, creating his own tracks and remixes for new upcoming artists like Heatbeat. “Harmony Rain”, for example, was recently released on Itsmo Music (El Salvador) and distributed by Paul Van Dyk..s Label Vonyc (www.vonyc.com). The collaboration of his friend Mr. V during that year, made 2006 the witness of the beginning of a new project: Thr3shold (myspace.com/thresholdsounds). As a result, they started an innovating mixture of styles like Hard, Uplifting and Tech Trance. Their tracks were supported by DJs like Phil Reynolds, Nick Rowland, Jason Cortez, Ben Bennet & Claudia Cazacu, getting to sign “Timeless” in Couture Records (UK) and some others remixes in cooperation with Claudia Cazacu. “Cowgirl”, for instance, was recently chosen as the tune of the month by Mixmag Magazine (UK).
Currently, he was requested by IMakeTheBeatGoBoom Productions to perform at P.u.r.a. event with Nic Chagal (Cosmic Gate) at Palacio Alsina, as well as closing with 2000 furious people after getting wild with Trance Producer Sean Tyas, and finally starting again his “Rise up!” parties with Phil Reynolds as DJ guest. During his career, Deathmind has been convocated by Out Of system, Underbeat, Digital Mantra, Abracadabra, Banite, Fucking Society, Don’t Stop Sign The Music, I Make the Beat Go Boom Productions, sharing booth with DJs such as Phil Reynolds (Uk),Ed Dimmock (Uk), DJ Patrixx (Hydraulix Records, Fr), Alex Calver (Glitch Recordings, Uk), Chris Liberator (Hydraulics, Uk),Alex S (SP Groove, Br), Travis Lea (Burning Man,Uk), Nic Chagal (Cosmic Gate, Germany), Sean Tyas (U.S), John O Callaghan (Discover), Menno de Jong (Intuition Recordings), Rank 1(Hol).
