Overground

Overground was formed in 1995 in Somis, Ventura County, California. Erik "E-Rok" Richards (Bass, Vocals), and Chris Sherman (drums) had just finished their "Whatever" project and hooked up with singer, guitarist John Sperger. They began playing the "Whatever" songs live and writing new material and Overground was born. Overground recorded their debut album at A&M studios in Hollywood in late 1995-early 1996. They released the self titled debut on Erik's 1st label, Suggs records, everywhere from Seattle to San Diego in 1996. They suppoted the album playing live shows regularly opening for acts such as Dave Wakeling, The Fixx, Banyan, the Young Dubliners, and Adrian Belew. In 1998 they began recording an E.P. and continued playing live shows until 2000. At that point Overground went on hiatus to do other things, but in 2002-3 Erik Richards and John Sperger reformed the band with new drummer Dave Borla (Danger Man, Echo Brain). They began writing and developing material over the next few years at E-Rok's Somis Sound Studios. After lots of commuting (John), tracking (overground), and mixing (E-Rok), they completed their new record... With old comrade Tyler Sherman on additional Synthesizers and Mastering the record...Overground have recently finished their new album "ILLUMINATE"... It will drop to digital stores March 4, 2008...
