D*Charles

This vivacious diva hails from Brooklyn, NY with cultural roots that span the globe to Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, and Grenada. Her music reaches out to various diaporas and is magnificently meshed into one sound that is anything but one dimensional.D* Charles first appeared on the music scene when she was at the tender but motivated age of 14. She impressed her music teachers with her strong melodic voice and was asked to participate in the NUHS school choir and several drama productions. Soon after, her song writing ability also gained incredible recognition when she entered the Bertelsmann World of Expression Music competition and was rewarded a college scholarship sponsored by Sony and BMG Music Entertainment.During the pursuit of a bachelors in Animal Bioscience, she toured with the United Soul Ensemble, a Penn State University based gospel choir. This opportunity landed her even more acclaim as a vocalist. She performed at various public venues including Miss Black Penn State, Unity in Christ, and a Multicultural Evening. After obtaining her degree, she moved to Maryland/ DC area to pursue a masters and continue on her musical journey. She has collaborated and networked with several artists/producers including Carl Rushing, Deborah Bond, Sam Archer, Princess of Controversy, Alexei Jendayi, Raven, D’Orr, Walta Blackson, Rosmur, and the list keeps growing. Her work and talent continues to receive acclaim as she was awarded finalist awards in Discmakers IMWS Competition and USA Songwriting Competition 2006.Currently residing in Alabama/Georgia, D* Charles is undergoing her last degree in veterinary medicine and keeps her time occupied, singing, writing, networking and working towards her long awaited debut album.
