I'm a 36 year old originally from Monroe/West Monroe Louisiana. I come from a family of musicians, singers, and entertainers. My Dad, Ray, sang and played many instruments. He also used to teach ballroom dancing, which I was his advertisement. He would take me to dances, do a demonstration of whirling me around the dance floor- hence he'd get new customers.My mom was quite the diva in her day. Although, I tell her I think she's still beautiful even today. Mom, Karen, used to play the piano and sing in college. She was the lead in college for the musical, "South Pacific". Mom used to sing around the house when she'd get upset with dad, "I'm going to Wash that Man right out of my hair!" lol With their love of music, I persuded music in school. From the 6Th grade to college I played the clarinet-won national competitions with the band.... Oh if anyone has seen the movie "School of Rock" they might get a hint of what it's like to be in a band. My band years were what lived for. In college, I found out I couldn't sing a tune in a bucket- I took one semester of Voice Diction- and wow could I sing. The talent was there just had to learn to sing on key. My brother, James, sister, Jennifer, myself and my sister in law, Carol Ann were all in choir together in college. Those were some good times. Now when we get together, we usually sing songs and tell old stories. Believe it or not, I used to be shy. While also singing in the college choir, I began to audition for musicals at the local little theater. I was a singing nun and chorus in "The Sound of Music" and in the chorus of "Show Boat". The song that I love the most from "Show Boat" was "And along came Bill whose not my type at all....." Now I can sing 3 octaves when warm- a G above the staff to a G below. Italian Aura's are a favorite. Still remember most of them from voice jury. But I am eclectic. My love of music ranges from Oldies, Big Band, Country, Soft Rock, Hard Rock to Pop, just about anything.
