About Me

Whats to say? On Fri the 23rd of June I qualified as a geography teacher with tattoos and piercings - a rare breed! Like having a laugh and not taking life too seriously. I don't do planning, i just take each day as it arrives and try and make sure that i don't get bogged down in the commercial world that surrounds me. Life is too short to spend it worrying about the future, what will be will be, why worry about something that hasn't happened yet? Instead of worrying about it, use the energy to make a positive change to head to the future you want. If in doubt, just think - what would homer do?Having spent time at Sheffield Hallam on crap course, then degree at Manchester Metroplolitan doing a degree in Geography, i worked for 15months at 3M in Clitheroe, before buggering off to Australia and New Zealand for 9 months, best time of my life. Followed that up with a Post Grad in Geographical Information Science at Uni of Nottingham (the best of the four uni's i've been to) and have just completed my second Post Grad at Uni of Leicester - a PGCE, teaching 11 - 19 year olds geography. Bloody hate teaching the younger years, but have a great laugh with the year 9 (14yr olds) and up. I just can't be doing with the younger kids, i always looked really forward to kids, but after 10 months i've kinda been put off. I mean, i'd love the whole thing of when they are a cute little baby, then a funny little toddler, but after that i don't think i could be arsed with the brats. Funny how that works out ain't it?What the future holds god knows, i want to gain some coaching qualifications for the sports i do, then hopefully do something with that - teaching forever more would be far too mainstream and dull. I prefer life outdoors doing practical things like fitting kitchens and lots of DIY stuff - i'm very good at it. Then ideally emigrate somewhere, not cos i hate England, i don't, i love it, it is a beautiful country with the most fantastic people, i just hate how it is run, how expensive it is, the fact that it is being run into the ground and that the majorities views are ignored, instead the country is run by two groups of people - a minority of idiots based in London who are totally out of touch with the world and another group of plebs, the media. I'd rather move somewhere else with a better quality of life. I mean, come on, in England going to the pub is about the only thing to do most of the time - its fun, but does get expensive, monotonous and repetitive. That said i love the Dry Dock, its my neighbour and i know and drink with the staff, hee hee, think i spend as much time in there as the bloody staff :)I just hope to live by the sea one day, i love its calming effect, it just lifts me, whether its watching a calm sea and its waves lapping the shore, or an invigorating, huge swell in a storm pounding the crap out of the coast. Either works for me, don't know why, but i just feel happy when i am by the sea and i like to be smiling. Sitting by the sea with someone who'll give you a hug is the best way to feel relaxed and chilled. It is possible that hugs and cuddles are perhaps the greatest thing in the world. No, i'm not a hippy, i just say what i think, and most people i reckon would agree, some people just don't have the bottle. Hugs just frikkin' rule!

My Interests

Besides uni i do a few things. In no particular order - i indulge in surfing, snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, badminton, gym, swimming, football. Like to watch rugby, football, extreme sports. Like going out with mates and generally just socialising with mates and having a laugh, i'm a people person.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who can make me laugh and smile, and anyone who can explain why my eyes change colour - i think i have moodstones for eyes or summat! Basically they were blue while i was young, grey as i grew up, then changed again sometime during my late teens, so now they are green most of the time. Sometimes they change a few times during the day, perhaps with my mood, varying between green, blue and grey. Confuses the hell out of the kids i teach, really freaks them out, which is great! :) Basically if you fancy a drink let me know cos i love meeting new people and being out, i'm only person left at uni and being only housemate in a ten person house is crap.

Music:

Jack Johnson occupies most space on my computer but i generally listen to anything. From Rage Against The Machine to Motown, to Black Eyed Peas and classical. As long as its a good tune i don't care what genre it is. Can't beat some cheesy old stuff tho when you're drunk! Right now i am enjoying Vanilla Pod and old classics.

Movies:

If its a comedy i'll usually like it. I like action too. As for favourites, that changes all time, would take forever just to run through the possibles and i can't be arsed typing all that.

Television:

Friends, WestWing, Teachers (i've now found out it is so accurate and true to life), Scrubs, basically what i have on dvd (quite a lot!!) Tv is mostly world cup, House, usual comedies and sadly *hangs head in shame* Big Bro (yes i say its crap and worst ever yet still find myself watching - why is that)

Books:

If its got words i'll read it, plain and simple as that. What can i say, i am a teacher!

Heroes:

Got to be Homer, Cartman, Joey and Chandler from friends, Mitch the Godfather and Frank the Tank, Peter Kay for proving people from the north west rule! Jack Johnson cos his lyrics are just amazing. Oh, and definately the muppets with the noses that honk! I also want to start a campaign to have Jeremy Clarkson made Prime Minister, that'd make the country a better place without doubt! The man is a legend!
