About Me

Sometime toward the end of the twentieth century a myth as old as time itself proved to the world to be more than a mere religious fabrication. All of the tales twice-told and legends aged through the centuries came to a glorious fruition as Ryan was born by miraculous conception to a young farm couple in rural Kansas in the land of North America. The wise men and kings gathered ‘round to offer their gifts were awestruck as the newborn child suddenly shot his still swollen eyelids open and burst from his mother’s arms, leaping to the ground, only to take the seven sacred steps foretold of the One. He stopped on the last, raised a single finger to the air in a holy mudra and spake, “I have come.” From there, the child collapsed on a pure white sheep that had kneeled behind him and returned to the role of a mortal child as he must to continue his appointed role and occupation while on the earth. The child spent the first twelve years of his life in that land until a death brought the family to the kingdom of Nebraska. Ryan was educated in the most prestigious of educational facilities offered by the meager land but it simply was not enough to sate the mind of one so mentally blessed by the Elders. Filling an earthly position of employment at a bookstore helped to quench the need for knowledge temporarily, but the time eventually came for Ryan to move to a profession that would entitle our Hero to more financial opportunities. To this day, the Man-God spends his days in the confines of a mortal occupation as he must in order to someday fulfill his duty and obligation of moving to the kingdom of Hollywood where he will entertain humanity and be adored by all. Until then, the tale continues as it must, as all tales do. He is also a Gemini, enjoys long walks on the beach and prefers brunettes with blue eyes, but acknowledges that women of every hair and eye color will eventually come his way and will be forgiving of any differences.

My Interests

Film, music, politics, camping/travel, books, lowbrow art... Actually, I like pretty much everything... I collect spores, molds and fungus. .. .. .... Any women want to work out with me? I don't believe their findings and I'd like to test them for myself.

I'd like to meet:

Movies:

As someone who is going to direct film (yes, I said IS GOING TO), it's very hard for me to pick favorites. I've seen so many movies that, right now in my life, I'm going back to rewatch films I haven't seen since I was little. I enjoy everything from Z-grade schlock like "Hell Comes to Frogtown, starring Rowdy Roddy Piper, to the amazing classics of cinema art. The Godfather is probably my favorite movie of all time, but 2001:A Space Odyssey is, without a doubt, the single best film ever made. WAAAYYYY too many movies for me to actually name, though. Stanley Kubrick was the greatest director of all time. Obviously Spielberg, Scorcese, Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Godard. Almost anything written by Charlie Kaufman is good. Good lord, I could fill this thing if I listed all my favorite movies. I'm not even going to try. Ask me if I like a movie and I'll tell you. How's that?

Television:

My TV comes on for The Simpsons, then goes back off. It's the only show worth watching except Arrested Development, and that's gone now... The Drew Carey Show and The Ren & Stimpy Show were great. .. .. ..If anyone has the AMC channel and wants to let me come over and watch this, they should.

Books:

Anything by Tom Robbins, Mark Twain, Vladimir Nabokov, Hunter S. Thompson, Christopher Moore, Ernest Hemingway, Borges. On the Road, The Beach, the Principia Discordia, Ishmael, The Alchemist. I've read a lot of books. Unfortunately, I read a lot of non-fiction... for fun, and don't really have the chance to read fiction.

Heroes:

J. Fred Muggs.
