Hola gente!! It's me Raul your neighborhood friendly mexican/latino/hispanic/chicano/mexican american. In case you don't know who I am, I'm the very first guy/profile you see in the "friends space" on this page. Well here's a little story about how it all began...
Asi Es - estilo latino clothing was born in my mind in 2003 while having lunch with my compadre in Austin, TX... It was merely an idea at the time, of "How can I incorporate everyday "dichos" (sayings), or words that we latinos use to poke fun of our culture while elevating it at the same time with a little bit of a Latin Vibe...?" So it came to me that I should design wearable art for anyone that knew, understood, or had any kind of association with Latinos... And believe me, we're EVERYWHERE. As time passed I started to see and hear more and more things we latin people would say that sounded funny at the time with the heavy accents... even things my gringo friends would say in Spanglish, so I thought to myself, "Why not screen print this on some high quality t-shirts..?" The rest is unfolding as I type.
Asi Es is about the "POSITIVE" Latin Movement that continues to grow. The movement of the youth and present generation will catalyze a new creative self-expression to elevate the Latin culture. With the positive movement comes new friends of all races and ethnic backgrounds. There is no segregation when it comes to the designs you see. ANYONE & EVERYONE can wear this. I invite you to be part of my/our culture. Asi Es is not meant to segregate.
Asi Es is meant to unite people, through wearable art and the freedom of self expression, without discriminating or passing judgement on any person. Many of the designs you see are inspired by friends, family, and everyday Latino Life. This is my heart and soul and now I share it with you.
