Hi Everyone!! First of all, thanks for passing by my space.My name is Miray and I'm a Turkish Cypriot from Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I'm the violinist of a well known chamber ensemble, dUOVibrAtO. I got my start at the Fine Arts middle school of Northern Cyprus, there I studied violin and piano. In high-school, I moved to mainland Turkey and studied violin at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory for 3 years with Dr. Murat Tamer. After finishing high-school, I moved back to Cyprus and continued my studies at the Eastern Mediterranean University of Northern Cyprus with Beth Schneider, violinist for the well known new music ensemble duo46. During this time I was a member of the Cyprus Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2003-2005, I worked for Bayrak Radio-Television Classical Radio Station(88.4fm).In 2005, before coming to United States, Joshua Rhoads and I created dUO VibrAtO under the direction of Dr. Matt Gould and Beth Schneider. I am now studying at Paradise Valley Community College with Beth Ilana Schneider.
While living in Cyprus, each summer I traveled around the world playing violin with several Folkloric Dance Companies originating from Northern Cyprus, and traveling to such places as Sicily, Ukraine, Macedonia, and Turkey.
I was chosen as the first place winner of 2007 and 2008 Maricopa Community Colleges' Performing Artists Competition in the instrumental category and chamber category.
Recently, I have joined a rock-opera band called W.O.M.B. (Warriors of Make Believe).
