Edera

About Me

Edera project starts in 1994, from a Valerio (vocals) and Matteo (keyboards) idea. Edera remains at an early stage up until 1997, when a steady line-up brings the project to a “more concrete” shape.
From then on, concerts, works and changes in line-up follow one another…
Now Edera is deeply rooted in each of the band members: an acquired stability and endless creativity allowed the production of 2 demo CDs (“Edera” – 2000, “Apart” – 2002), the first deal with a record label, and the first official band CD “Settings for a drama”, featuring 13 of the 40+ songs from the band repertoire.
Art rock…
We strongly believe in a music that’s “art” more than pure entertainment.
Art as an exteriorization process, as a deep need for the intimate to communicate. We tried to conceive an instrument in order to reach the intimate in a very accurate and disruptive way, keeping away from the usual patterns and from the constrained and ambiguous paths of conventional communication. Edera is the instrument we use to fullfil our communication needs, translating them into a form of art.
We like to consider our songs as magnificent theatrical plays, where music is the scenographic part, and the words constitute the recitative acts. Each representation is actually a monologue, where the voice of the single actor gets mixed up with the musical backgrounds describing his emotional exasperation.
We strongly believe in an evocative music. Words and musical notes describe images, projections of our own thoughts. Those might be static images, or images mixing in a cascade; in any case they paint a picture about what an individual actually is as soul and relations, namely intimate and comparison.
