"A female version of Bruce Dickinson"

About Me

Email Me!
I'm a singer based in Cambridge, UK, with over ten years' experience as a musician. I've sung for several bands including Fruit Tree, Skelliga and Foxtrot Uniform, as well as solo work. In the past I have played a support slot for Napalm Death, done vocal sessions for Lady Morphia, played Strawberry Fair free festival in Cambridge, recorded three EPs and several other projects, and played gigs and festivals all over England. I also have an HND in Popular Music. Currently I am working as a lead singer for a Heavy Metal band named Telomere that is based in Bury St Edmunds (see gallery for pics), lead singer for Southern Rock band Angelust and also as a backing vocalist for the Texas Chainsaw Orchestra
I have some of Skelliga's songs up on this profile, but they are ancient, so you'll have to excuse the crap production! There's a few more on Skelliga's myspace profile, please check out http://www.myspace.com/skelliga for those. 'Crossing the Boundaries' and 'No Forgiveness' are probably the best. The college project, 'City Siren' was my final year studio session - the lyrics and vocals were written and recorded inside of 45 minutes. I should hopefully be updating this page shortly with some rough demos of what I've been doing with the Bury Band - watch this space!
I'm currently available for session work, either recorded or live. I'm into many genres of music, including various permutations of Folk, Rock, Metal, Punk, Ska, Trance, Goth, Industrial and some Hip-Hop/Rap. I write lyrics and vocal melodies/harmonies, but not full songs and I can do anything from your classic love song through protest and socially conscious to rage, hate and pain!
Favourite Influences:
The Levellers - socially conscious lyrics, folk-rock-punk, electric violin, songs you can STOMP to.
Within Temptation - gorgeous vocals, soundscapes, sequences and samples, bombastic, theatrical female heavy metal!
KMFDM - industrial heavy metal at its best, complex sampling/sequencing, darkly humorous/socially conscious lyrics.
Devin Townsend (especially circa 'Ocean Machine') - Very complex 'Wall of Sound' technique with loads of samples/sequencing. Quite progressive but also very heavy.
