Mainly other couples (married or not, 20s-40s) with whom my wife and I can hang out, preferably ones who live as close as possible (we're right by the Camden exit of Highway 85, in south San Jose), as my wife's panic-related disorder prevents her from travelling more than about five miles, on the average, from our apartment. We would prefer the company of intelligent couples (not necessarily formally educated, but smart, well-read, etc.), who are open-minded, have a wide range of interests, and might enjoy barbecues and other culinary-derived social events i.e., having dinner at each other's homes, going to restaurants, etc. Its OKay if you don't drink, but I do (mainly beer & wine), and Karin smokes cigarettes (I do not). And while its not a big thing in my life, it is true that I firmly advocate the legalization of marijuana. You must also be cool with dogs; we're cool with cats. I am a huge movie fan of all genres other than "action" films (including foreign, artistic, and/or independent films such as those shown at the Camera Cinemas), and Karin especially enjoys comedic films.Bonus points if one or both of you have an interest in current events, world affairs, are habitual voters, etc. Extra bonus points if you hate BOTH President George W. Bush AND ex-President Bill Clinton. Karin is a non-denominational Protestant who does not believe in Darwinian evolution. I am an agnostic from a Roman Catholic family who regards evolution as a self-evident truth. We occassionally attend services at St. Luke's Lutheran Church on Camden Ave., albeit primarily as a favor to Karin. And while this last may seem obscure (and if it means nothing to you, then it almost certainly doesn't apply to you), the fact remains that unless you plan to keep your thoughts to yourself, there is very little chance I will be able to form a lasting friendship with most neo-conservatives & other strong supporters of the Bush administration, and especially its suicidally insane, imperialist misadventure in Iraq, as well as anyone who hates and/or is ashamed of Western/European civilization and/or the USA itself, and/or those people who adhere to the pre-Millennial Dispensationalist and/or Christian Zionist/"Noahide" tendencies within (mainly) Protestant theological practice. If you aren't endlessly tolerant, and very few of us can achieve that, its good to know what things you aren't likely to be successful at tolerating. I have very strong opinions, and a great many, very deeply held, passionate beliefs on all sorts of things, many of which most people couldn't care less about, or haven't even heard of; don't ask me why, for I don't know. That aspect of my persona will likely lead to conflict with the groups I have specified above, alas.Erin go bragh! Vive la France!
