'Iskandariyya '
ALEXANDRIA
(queen of the mediterranean) City and port in northern Egypt with about 4.0 million inhabitants , situated on the Mediterranean Sea, 2 kilometres from the inland Lake Mariout, near the outlets of the Salam canal, which receives its water from the Rosetta river (coming from the Nile). The city is a commercial and economic centre, and about 80% of all of Egypt's imports and exports go through its harbours. Alexandria is also a very important tourist resort, with a 20 km long waterfront, serving the rich and the middle class of Cairo where the summer heat can make life in the capital unbearable. HISTORY 332 BCE: Founded by the Macedonian king, Alexander the Great, near the fishing village Rhakotis.1798: The French general Napoleon takes control of Alexandria. At this time, Alexandria is only a small fishing town of about 5,000 inhabitants. With Napoleon, much of Alexandria's old strategic importance is briefly resurrected. 1801: Napoleon's troops lose control over Alexandria. 1820: The Mahmudiyya Canal, which links Alexandria to the Nile, is opened. With this, Alexandria's economy is revived, and its population experiences a strong increase in the decades that follow. The canal also serves to irrigate the surrounding land, breaking ground for better agriculture. There is also a strong immigration from Europe, which paints the city with an international character and ambience. 1869: The opening of the Suez Canal adds more to the importance of Alexandria, as this leads to an heavy increase in marine traffic in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. 1957: All French and British citizens are expelled in reaction to the acts of Western powers during the Suez-Sinai War of 1956. This war also initiates the large exodus of Jews. Following this, there are also strong actions to reclaim the Egyptian image of the city, and this changes its face forever. ?€”The tradition of moving the seat of the government, from Cairo to Alexandria for the summer months, . and now i hope every one will like the page and say (ayooooooooooh) :) askandrany.

Alexander The Great

Montazah beach This area along the coast about 15 miles east of Alexandrias old district along the Corniche is where many of the modern Alexandrian hotels are located, as well as one of the elegant heritage hotels. Khedive Abbas II built the Salamlik as a residence. Here also is the magnificent Montaza Palace.

The Corniche is doted with Casinos built on stilts and rows of beach huts. The avenue here did not always exists, for until the 20th century, the areas remained fortified by a five mile long wall with towers which had protected the city since the 13th Century. In the early 1900s, a strip of land with a width of about 100 years was reclaimed from the sea, and the area became popular with beach goers. That is no longer the case, but it remains a lively area of Alexandria.

On the western end of the Corniche near Silsila where the New Alexandria Library . is the Shatby Tombs which are said to be the oldest in Alexandria. Nearer the San Stefano area across the tram tracks is also the Royal Jewelry Museum.

Saad Zaghloul Square known as Raml Station, it is the city's downtown square . Cleopatra's needles once stood here. The statue of the Twentieth Century leader celebrates Saad Zaghloul's successful attempt to unify the Egyptian people in 1919 against the British. The renovated historic Cecil Hotel can also be seen in the background.

The Unknown Soldier Monument at Mansheya The monument is erected in honor of Egyptian soldiers who gave their life in defense of the country. It is located on the sea front in Mansheya, Alexandria's main square.

The Fort of Qaitbay It was built in 1480 on the ruins of the Alexandria Lighthouse to repel raiders from the Mediterranean. The medieval-style Fort was named after the Mamelouk Sultan Qaitbay, and is considered one of Alexandria's landmarks.

Main railway station (Masr Station)

Andalus Tower in Agami The Andalus Tower was constructed in 1999 as part of the revival campaign of Alexandria. It is located at Km-21 along the North Coast Road which connects Alexandria to Matrouh. The tower is approximately 18 m tall and is of Andalusian/North African style. It is located at the crossroads of Cairo, Alexandria, and the North Coast which connects Egypt with North Africa.

and when we talk about Agamy&North coast and thats my best we i live i can tell u whonderfull places there
First Agamy

That is the wonderfull places u can chill' have fun.....etc

La Plage:

Music, people, beach: same old, same old. It€™s a nice place to hang-out, and spend the day frying in the sun to the soundtrack of some chatters and music.

Oxygen:

Same spot as last year, yet less popular. It offers a more active nightlife this year round.

Andrea:

Same place, different management (the old moved to the North Coast). It€™s got the same crowd of Agami party goers. Another see and be seen spotlight. Early reservation is a must.

Summer Moon (Privilege):

This vestige of Agami constantly changes its nature to survive. This time DJ€™s Khaled A. Rahman, Khaled Hussein and some more keep the groove going till sunrise. Ladies€™ entrances are often free till a specific hour. The crowd however is never guaranteed.

Blues"La Piste":

It is a magnificent site and sight at night by the sea. It plays salsa and commercial music for the those of you who like to dance the night away.and these are some picture of la piste my favorite place.

Second North Coast

That is the wonderfull places u can chill' have fun.....etc

Pacha Club:

A great night outlet, overlooking the lake in Marina (gate 2). A resident DJ from Pacha Ibiza rocks the dance floor. There are different types of seating arrangements, combining high tables and sofas. It's a great venue where you can enjoy the summer breeze with a raving soundtrack while smoking your shisha.

Pacha Beach:

A bit further along the Northern coast, moving West of Marina, lies a sumptuous hotel Charm Life (ex-Ghazalah) where Pacha Beach overlooks a quiescent blue azure sea. The beach is absolutely to dive for, the music unshakable, and the food succulent. There are amazing water sports activities available. The crowd is slightly thinner that in most other beaches, since it's around 30 minutes from Marina. But it's worth the drive. You may be lucky enough to get a hammock and swing yourself to sleep! Overall it's an unmissable experience for Sahel goers. Just make sure you're on the guest list.

Cuba Cabana:

A most gigantic pool complex in Marina (gate 3) overlooking the lake. Its view is breathtaking and for those of you who want to glide on the blue surface, you can find a large variety of water sports. A DJ spins some music for a nice ambience.

Tahiti:

Well, you expect a coconut filed beach, and exotic women! Not! This beach, sponsored by Coca-Cola, is besides Porto Marina, during the morning it€™s a sun-tanning sand spread. At night, it becomes a lounge to chill. A DJ from Buddha Bar guarantees remarkable music.

La Voile Bleue:

A blue beach, sponsored by Pepsi €“ hence the blue €“ is what Paradise Agami used to look like. It€™s in Costa Del Sol, after Zahran Complex, going East. There is a pool, nice green patches, and a crowded beach, where you can order you shisha. It provides a socializing galore for the ones who want to be seen.

La Plage:

They have upped their prices, and it€™s a members-only zone in Marina (gate 5). You can puff-up, or let the steam out at the Gold€™s Gym. Some water sports are also available. A resident DJ plays lounge music and there are competitions, including beach volley and dancing. A wide variety of stalls offer different types of food.

Vodafone Bay:

Overlooking the Marina Bay, this spot has a magnificent view (Marina, gate 5). It€™s quiet and generally crowded. There are many cafés there, including El Shader, Café Mo, Casino, Sidi Mansour and Farah Café. It€™s a simple enough hang-out, with music, shisha and plenty of menus for food.

O Zone:

This is a huge pool complex in Marina (gate 5), with an Olympic size swimming pool. Entry is open to the public and is by tickets. Many facilities provide entertainment: a gym, cafés, and an opportunity for water sports lovers. Porto Marina:

A long walk-about, with yachts parked on your right, and a never-ending strip of restaurants and shops on your left. There are also 2 private beaches, a golf course and a club house. It tends to be very crowded in the week-ends! But plenty of chances for entertainment and fun are always available.

Andrea (Sidi Abdel Rahman):

Situated in La Hacienda, quite further that Marina, this is the place to see and be seen during the week-end. The door policy is clear, if the owner likes you you€™re in, if he doesn€™t, you€™re persona non grata! Reservations are a must to enter this little haven! Decoration and food are superb, and the crowd hand-picked! Slightly over-rated compared to the humiliation you might suffer.

The New City Gate Built in 1999, the new City Gate on the Desert Road is located at the toll station 30 km outside the city limits. The new gate celebrates the Greco-Roman heritage of the city in its style. i hope u enjoyed the tour .(askndria)Get Your Own! | View Slideshow
