I like most sports, theater, movies, cooking, teaching, motivational speaking, decorating, board games (especially chess) and playing the piano. I love hip-hop, jazz and art. I also love school - headed for law school soon.!
I'd like to meet:
If you're positive, we can be positively cool. I like people who are secure with themselves and do not hate on others who are having success. If you have probs don't bring 'em over here, go work 'em out on your own. I like ambitious, hard-working people. I do not like it when people get in their own way by abusing drugs or alcohol (or cigarettes, for that matter) or by passing up opportunities because they're scared of what might happen. Life is a simple thing, but people make it difficult; You should approach it with bravery. If you have these same beliefs, we will get along well.!
Music:
I still love hip-hop groups like Public Enemy, De La Soul, the Digible Planets and A Tribe Called Quest. But some of todays rappers are puttin' it down, like Jay-Z, Naz, Nelly, Outkast and Common.
Movies:
I like intelligent movies...movies that have intrigue to them, like "Traffic", "The Pelican Brief", "The Firm" and "Wall Street". I also love stand-up comedy movies like "Chris Rock, Never Scared".
Television:
I watch very little of it because there are too many "reality" shows. Television has degenerated into something watered down. Anyone can be famous nowadays and everyone is trying to be famous. They all want their 15 minutes without developing any skills or paying any dues. This is an insult to real artists, people who spend years honing their crafts in dingy clubs, churches, nightclubs, performing arts schools and even on the street.
Books:
"Race, Racism and American Law", by Derrick Bell. "Ain't I a Woman?", by Ntozake Shange. "What's Going On?", by Nathan McCall. I also read a lot of plays and self-help books on things like finance, home decorating, cooking and social skills.!
Heroes:
Oprah, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Robert Johnson, Russell Simmons, Sean "P.Diddy/Puffy" Combs, LL Cool J, Amiri Baraka, Muhammad Ali and anyone who stands for something besides a buffet.!
