I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace) BlaqKharma was born in the small, rural town of Whiteville, North Carolina in the mid 80’s. She moved to the city of Atlanta at the age of three. Atlanta served as an authentic reminder that there was more to life than the dilapidated slave shacks that wittingly decorated acres of corn and tobacco fields in North Carolina.BlaqKharma obtained her love for music and poetry at a very early age. She loved the beautiful melodies and high hits mixed with powerful words. She began writing at the age of 11. For years, she kept the works that she wrote in her notebook to herself until a friend urged her to compete in a high school talent show. She won third place in the competition. Before graduating high school BlaqKharma competed and placed in several more talent competitions.Shortly after BlaqKharma graduated high school, she began production on her first album, “Shadowstonez and Cloudy Water”. She soon shelved her album feeling that the world wasn’t ready for her hard hitting, yet soulful messages. In early 2006, she began working as a talent manager with a small independent record label based in Buford Georgia. She soon split the following year due to creative and professional differences. In 2007, she began hosting her own open mic once a month at Urban Grind Coffeehouse in the city of Atlanta. She has also went on the read her poetry several times on “The Quiet Storm” radio program hosted by Joyce Little on Atlanta’s own V-103 hip hop and R&B radio station.BlaqKharma has used her gifts for several community outreach projects such as: The 25 books campaign at Martin Luther King Middle School in October 2008. Her first album “Shadowstonez and Cloudy Water” is scheduled to be released in March of 2009 under her own record label, CreativeSoul Recordings. In addition to her own project, she has several other artists that she will be working with for 2009 who are scheduled to make releases later on this year and a volume of poetry that is in its final stages of completion, to be released in the summer of 2009.
