If you haven’t heard of Anxiety Whispers yet, chances are you've been living a horribly sheltered existence for the past four years.
Blasting onto the Sydney metal scene in late 2000, Anxiety Whispers initially transpired when vocalist Xie and drummer Zotty, determined to create music that was refreshingly different, recruited guitarist/song writer Marcii, keyboardist/sampler R9311 and bassist D-Void (ex-member of Jerk, John Devoy).
Since gaining many fresh-faced fans as a result of their highly successful 'Killing The Fantasy’ tour of the East Coast, Anxiety Whispers have been an unstoppable assault on the local music scene, not only in Sydney, but also in both Queensland and Melbourne.
Anxiety Whispers unleash their fury onto us with their sophomore release 'ToyBox'. Their sound, combining elements of metal, industrial, punk, goth and math is one which the band like to refer to as ‘Industrial Bounce-Metal’.
However, without reference to a specified genre, it is certain Anxiety Whispers have a sound that is more mature than your average ‘garage band’. Anxiety Whispers bring a more intelligent and refreshing sound to the ears of listeners, through cleverly crafted, twisted lyrics and outstanding musicianship within the music.
You’re almost forced to start your own one man mosh pit.
As drummer Zotty states -- "We produce the most energetic, heavy music we can. Music created to make you move! Dance music for the mosh pit."
With a stage show that is driven by old style punk attitude, it's amazing that these boys play so well whilst presenting the extremely exhilarating and visually satisfying performance that they do. Onstage convulsions and music induced madness give evidence as to how passionate this band is about what they do.
Certainly an act you’d be foolish to miss.
