Profile GeneratorDJ/Producer Rapid has been into the underground music scene since listening to pirate radio in London in 1988.
Having started going out raving in 1991, the next progression was to buy a set of decks. Rapid progressed through the old skool scene and drum and bass scene. Around 1997, Rapid stopped buying upfront tunes and instead concentrated on the old skool sounds from 1988 onwards, which he still plays out regularly today. He has played for many of the scene’s big promoters; Moondance, Epidemik, Absolute Oldskool, Resonance and many others.
The Hardcore Breaks scene that started to emerge in the early 2000’s reignited Rapid’s love for new music. Through this, he started to get into the breaks scene and is getting more bookings to play his ‘Tear-Out’ style.
Over the years, Rapid has been nominated for several awards in the old skool scene, including ‘Best New Era DJ’ at the epidemik old skool awards and the ‘Musik 4 You’ awards.
Rapid has been involved in pirate radio since 1995 and currently hosts the ‘Antiques Rave Show’ on the award winning Eruption 101.3 FM in London.
In 2008, Rapid got involved in the production side of things and released his first tune on Bassrock Records, ‘Crank’. This track was received well in DJ Magazine and had DJ support from Dreadzone, Sunz of Mecha and Anti-Science. Rapid is currently in the studio and has plenty of new material up his sleeve for the coming year.
