THE WAITING FOR DARRYL STORY AS OF JULY 2006...
Waiting For Darryl first emerged from the ashes of former musical projects in the late summer of 2003. The premise for the band was simple: make the worst, most annoying pop punk band possible. Fortunately for them, Ryan Johnston (vocals/guitar), Andrew Pippin (bass/vocals) and Joey Ramirez (drums) were only capable of creating songs that were not only catchy, but simultaneously rocking and listenable.
As Waiting For Darryl began playing shows throughout Washington and Oregon as well as self-releasing several recordings (including two full lengths: 2004's "Heres to the Neighbors" and 2005's "Round Two Fight!"), they began to accumulate an ever-growing fan base in addition to some well deserved attention from several establishments including the fine people at the Vans Warped Tour, which featured Waiting For Darryl in 2004 and 2005.
Over the last three years the band has brought its unique brand of pop/punk/metal/indie fueled rock to open ears in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada and Utah and has been caught in the act with numerous notable acts such as Circa Survive, The Classic Crime, Emanuel, The Fight, Hellogoodbye, Kane Hodder, Kaddisfly, The Rocket Summer, Underminded, Tysen, Tokyo Rose, JamisonParker, Sherwood, Ever We Fall, Facing New York, Nural, Houston Calls, The Fold, Say Anything, DEK, The Human Abstract, Amity, and others in addition to features in such publications as Elle Girl Magazine (punk rock, right?) and Skratch Magazine.
Early in 2006 Waiting For Darryl chose to expand their sound by adding guitarist and longtime friend Dan Travis as well as drummer Mitch Wixom to the mix. Having just completed their second West Coast tour the band is preparing to record and unleash a new full length upon the world in September/October 2006. Keep an eye out for the Darryl invasion in your town. It could happen sooner than you think!
