Lebenssteuer's roots go surprisingly deep, as the band originated in 1999. The original line-up was formed by a former Aion keyboardist Lukasz ''Migdal'' Migdalski and vocalist Michal ''Vaceq'' Wackowski. Not long after that the guys were joined by guitarist Sebastian „Sebollah†Sendal and since that moment LEBENSSTEUER was able to perform live and soon started to play gigs.
The first period of activity, which finished with recording the first demo in 2000, could be easily perceived as a success because the guys toured with Aion and Moonlight, and the demo material was chosen the best demo material of 2000 by Thrash'em All magazine readers.
On the verge of 2000/2001 Leben recorded their first full-length material in Wroclaw Fonoplastikon Studio and the LP entitled „Deadsmileâ€(Apocalypse/ Koch)met some very nice opinions from the critics as well as the audience.
At the end of 2001 the band welcomed a bassist – Przemek '' Klempicz'' Lembicz and Tomek „Ryba†Rybacki on guitar next year. Feeling the new energy, the band quickly recorded the songs for the ''Deadsmile†follow-up, ''Neverland''. Unfortunaltely, due to the market collapse and changes in the line-up it has not been released yet.
Soon, Lembicz was to be replaced by Hubert "Hubass" Walczak . This lineup lasted for some time but another significant change came when they had to replace a singer that had just escaped the country one day without giving any reasons. Pawel "kloozkha" Wasilewski, former member of Choice, was introduced as a new vocalist in late 2006, and the band went on tour to support Artrosis on 12 gigs all over Poland, having previously released "No Repent" EP that includes one new song and three new versions of older stuff sang by kloozkha .
In 2007 the band recorded ''Speak My Mind '' videoclip. The song originates form ''Neveland'' LP, but thanks to a new and refreshing vocal arrangement it can be a representative one for the new line-up and the way the band is currently following.
Multiple gigs attract more and more fans and the feedback is still positive, as the band is trying to find its way in 2008. New songs are being composed and summer gigs are being planned. Hopefully the new year proves successful to the band.
Stylistically LEBENSSTEUER’s music is rather hard to classify and does not seem to match any of categories as well as some of their provocative character in some cases as for example cover of Bomfunk MCS „Freestylerâ€.
The mixture of diferrent factors affecting Lebenssteuer's works is a result of the clash of huge egos, hard work and strong friendship between the members. All of these causes great reception of the music no matter if it is being listened live or not.
