I love Historical Fiction, recently I have been reading a lot of Bernard Cornwell, his books really bring history to life and I would recommend them to anyone. Similarly the Troy novels by David Gemmell and the Roman novels of Simon Scarrow are also excellent. I like books on Norse and Greek mythology. I also love books about music such as Lucifer Rising by Gavin Baddeley, Lords Of Chaos by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind and Choosing Death by Albert Murdrian. Old Science Fiction also features heavily in my library; Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham, The Forever War by Joe Haldeman, Man Plus by Frederick Pohl, H.G. Wells, Michael Moorcock, Arthur C. Clarke, Phillip K. Dick etc etc. The Sorrow Of War by Bao Ninh is an incredible story and perhaps the most moving I have ever read. Also anything by Michael Moore and Jon Ronson fascinates me!! And of course... Terry Pratchett!
I don't believe in hero worship, but I do respect the work of many people, see the categories above. And I draw daily inspiration from the stories of the Gods of the Norse
Pantheon.
