Never Give Up!!!

About Me

SisterMonk’s newest album, “Never Give Up” explores the ferocious power of lyrical expression through music and the word. Their songs are written on the edge of a compassionate encounter with our chaotic, globalized, post-industrial world. Highly danceable and accessible, SisterMonk defies the norm with a totally unique approach to rock. The albums first song “Stop Being Afraid” commits the listener to shedding layer upon layer of body armor; the reality that we, as a culture, are collectively fleeing, is a realm of simple truth beyond fear. SisterMonks’ single “Ledge” admits to the desperation of modern life and recognizes that the breakthrough of acceptance is as simple as softening our stance. Ledge’s 7/8 time signature nudges the listener to find balance on a precarious perch. “Sphinx” is a middle-eastern rock re-enactment of the Oedipus riddle Do we experience vertigo on the edge of a cliff because we are afraid to fall or because we might not resist the urge to leap? “Never give up”, the title track of the album with lyrics by HH The Dalai Lama spearheads a call for non-violent revolution with an explosive uptempo funk groove.SisterMonk has brought their fearless message of compassion and social change to such notable venues as The Knitting Factory NYC, The Open Center, SUNY New Paltz (opened for Michael Franti and Spearhead), Humboldt State College, Evergreen College, NW Folklife Festival and the Rolling Thunder Democracy Tour (opened for Zap Mama). Compared with the likes of Michael Franti, Ani DiFranco and Dave Matthews, SisterMonk is poised for national success.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
