I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky, but I'm currently working on my PhD in Rhetoric and Composition at Miami University (Ohio), which means I will be in school FOREVER. I spend most of my time convincing people that writing is useful, and I am newly ABD (which means "All But Dissertation"). Guess I should start writing that. And I need to start planning a wedding. . .hmm.

I love being outdoors (camping, backpacking, hiking, sailing), I am an obnoxious dog parent (of a miniature dachshund named Brownie and an alleged shitzu named Marbles. . .long story), and I am a huge UK sports fan.

I also enjoy yoga, pilates, working out, reading anything, writing nonfiction, eating cookie dough, wearing the color blue, and, as Renee said the other day, "reclaiming the color pink." I am kind of learning how to knit, and I am brushing up on my tarot card reading ability. I adore Salvador Dali, I hate coffee (what's an academic to do?), I am a transcendental meditator, and I think that people who are serious all the time must have sociopathic tendencies.

People. Preferably with a sense of humor, a love of dogs, and an open mind. And it helps if you love watching college basketball and understand the importance of Derby Day as a holiday.

My Blog

Question 1: Why do people assume that if they've figured out how to post a blog entry, then they actually have something worthwhile to say???? Question 2: Why do people use their blog space as an oppo...
