You have probably seen Jean-Marie before, whether it be Lincoln Jean-Marie, Tre's father, who has had won a MOBO award and worked with various well-established acts, or cousin Leon, the project of Mark Ronson who recently had a highly successfully album. Now entering firmly into the UK music scene, Tre Jean-Marie (pronounced Tray) - better known as Tre Sosa is the rising newcomer set to cause a lot of hype this year.
He watched the chart success of fellow East Londoner, Lethal B back in 2004 with ’Pow (Forward Riddim)’, "from that point it was on," he confides, he made his first single featuring Striver & Aston Merrygold of JLS (runner-up in the last series of X-Factor). A few years down the line, joining forces with some of the UK's première artists he is working at an unstoppable pace to become a household name whilst still staying in education.
Appearing on BBC 1Xtra's Homegrown show was a big eye-opener for him when the song featured generated over two and a half thousand plays on Myspace that day despite it being on air for just over a ninety seconds. Music has already taken Tre up and down the UK, and overseas too! He has also shared stages with the likes of Bow Wow, Tynisha Keli, Lupé Fiasco and N-Dubz to name a few; there is no stopping this kid!
Already at the age of sixteen, this young MC, producer and multi-instrumentalist has a single deal with Sony Music. Soon you will be left with no questions about why this year is set to be the year.
His début video, "London (Ft. Boya of Nu Brand Flexxx & Vidal)" is to be on MTV Base, Flava and Channel AKA from 29th June.
