The Eviction Directive

About Me

Driven by the creative legacy that Woodstock, NY holds so close to its heart, The Eviction Directive succeeded in redevolping that which seemed stagnant. In the midst of a popular music scene that seemed to forget the emotionally charged roots from which it began, they engaged themselves within a sonic alchemy that shattered the formulae of those before them. The songs, ranging from angst-ridden to avant-garde, embraced the true feelings of their rapidly developed grassroots fanbase. For those listening with their ears to the underground, The Eviction Directive offered a refreshing dose of amphetamine-laden punk nuance without disregard for its melodic counterparts.
Drummer and singer, Nate Kelley (formerly of Shabutie - now Coheed & Cambria - and Divest), has built a niche for himself in the so-called "emo" scene. While playing drums for Shabutie, he also worked as a studio musician playing on a number of records - most notably a session with George Clinton and Bernie Worrell of Parliament Funkadelic. Combining prowess and power, Nate presents a style reminiscent of Tim Dow of Shiner and Brian St. Pierre of Champaign, Illinois-based band Hum.
Bassist and singer Brandon Annabel and guitarist Kirk Hansen, formerly of Woodstock's Fistfight, had been forging their unique sound for over ten years. The unfortunate passing of drummer Ryan McKenzie forced them to venture into the apprehensive task of finding a replacement. After three years of sifting through surrogates, the chemistry was finally struck with Nate...and The Eviction Directive was born.
Sonically, all three introduced various vocal ideas into the mix. Providing a blend ranging from Fugazi to Sunny Day Real Estate to At the Drive In, Brandon, Nate and Kirk created a sound all their own; one that had been described as "experimental meets tried and true". Lyrically, their style was innovative and persuasive - shedding new light and emotion upon the existing watered-down popular music scene.
The Eviction Directive was as much a developed sound as it was a sound yet to be developed. The energy of their live performance was rivaled by few, and their direction was unmatched. The music of The Eviction Directive was the embodiment of the entropy and change so prevalent in society. Join the movement that was The Eviction Directive before it passes you by...again!
I edited my profile with Ian MacKaye from Fugazi !
