Mr Dark handles the production while Skeptic and Sames divvies up the tracks equally. 40 Bricks is ex-death metal vocalist Jid Sames' effort, plodding along wonderfully with a cheeky piano and flute sample, while the lads' locale of wandsworth is described as the place where the "drug-crazed foes exchange blows and bloody noses after the pub closes". Sounds great to me. Dust Angels, meanwhile, is an ode to the dirt and grime of the Big Smoke, with Skeptic - the yin to Sames' yang - blessing the mic device with considerable finesse. A quirky, off-kilter release, definitely one for the shopping list. ------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------- Hip Hop Connection (Jan 06): -- Hailing from Wandsworth, this threesome look to lock things down with an effective four-track EP, Mr Dark unveils a nice line in prodcution, while the two emcees impress with witty banter. So fresh, so clean! ------------------------------------------------------------

-- Hip Hop Connection (Feb 06): --- Mr Dark's obviously been busy sifting charity shop gold - 'Persuasive Percussion'? - from the mountains of Mrs Mills LPs. The result is a four song EP whose sounds - tip-toeing pianos, clonking cowbells, chinking guitars - conjure up the same kind of eccentric Englishness as Hammer Horrors, Ealing Comedies, and Steptoe & Son. Meanwhile, Skeptic and Jid Sames "flip game like spatchleors". Simile-fond rappers, no doubt. But fine ones, certainly. ------------------------------------------------------------

-------- DJ Mag: -- Mr Dark - presents skeptic and jid sames e.p. 4/5 -- Mr Dark? who be he? Why does his name seem familiar yet spooky to me? why has he lashed 40 Bricks with such brilliantly minimal piano, flute and lounge blues vocals when he knows im a sucker for all 3? Skeptic and Jid Sames are content to stalk the spaces, spitting choice lines where they can. Sentence Boxing keeps up the spectral vibe with a terrifying tiptoe around Darks imagination. Dust Angels has a warped weft of ectoplasmic vocal that damn near causes coronaries. And the stunning Siren waves you off down that dark country lane with satanic strings and a fucking strange atonal vocal and blues harp thats way more out there than anything anticon or def jux have given us in a while. Great, gruesome stuff. Go get. ------------------------------------------------------------
