I AM ALSO KNOWN AS GARY WILDE, AND MY BAND ARE THe WILDE FLOWERS. Check us out at www.myspace.com/thewildeflowersI do lots of stuff but mainly I write. I write all sorts of stuff including songs. I mainly write lyrics, some of which have tunes, but mostly have tunes added by tunesmiths. A lot get played, some get recorded. I will start posting them on my blog. If you like them you can use them. Remeber, I own the copyright.Ok so the first thing you see is an old git, and wondering what I'm doing on 'trendy' Myspace. Well if it's good enough for Scott Walker it's good enough for me, and as Jarvis Cocker said - "Help the aged, because one day you'll be older too..". The fact is I am one of many Herberts who took so many mind altering drugs in the 70's that the ageing mechanism in my brain shorted out and I can never grow up. I crash landed amongst the wreckage of progressive rock in the 70's still clinging on to Marc Bolan, Bob Dylan and Syd Barrett for comfort and was rescued by punk.
Writing lyrics for a Punk/New Wave (ouch!) band or two, working in Europe and beyond, getting married, bringing up kids, getting divorced, and listening to music, music, music, going to college and Uni as a mature, and drinking lots of beer, brings us into a new century. Getting into photography and writing with a book of words and photos on prefabs published and exhibited, a play written, poems sweated over and writing new songs with a new band. I now have a great single life with heaps of cool friends in Newport, mainly on the music scene, and spend far too much time in the best pubs and clubs swinging my pants. I am working on a long term huge photo project, which takes me around the coast in a little camper van. I am also taking lots of photos of bands big and small at local venues and beyond. Did GLC last week!
Current plans? Do up house and sell it. Waste the money on travel and crazy schemes. Put good bands on in Newport. Drink too much. Love everybody. Hate everybody else.
