General drunkenness balanced with work. Working hard. Hardly working. Late nights. Wine. Cheap beer. Fun. Painting. Laughter. Family. Learning something new everyday. Travel. Slacks. Friends. Trying something new every chance I get. Art. Dance. Trying to have a life that is not dominated by work.
PEOPLE WHO LIVE BY THIS CODE:"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success." - (Raplh Waldo Emerson)
Tool, Blind Melon, Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More, The Strokes, Neutral Milk Hotel, White Stripes, Tribe Called Quest, Gorillaz, Jimmy Eat World, Mary Prankster, Damion Rice, Willie Nelson, Led Zepplin, The Neville Brothers, Billie Holiday, Prince, Tori and Sarah (of course...), the Roots, Prince, Citizen Cope, John Legend, Brett Dennen, Elvis, Blue October, Deftones, OAR, Mazzy Star, Sublime, funk and reggae, Quicksand, Luscious Jackson, Kanye, Toots and the Maytals, and many other various groups that range from hard to soft, but always have a lot of heart.
Anchorman (like I really had to point that obvious fact out), Old School, Office Space, anything by John Hughes, Woody Allen or the Cohen Brothers, anything with John Cusak, then the classics...all the Rocky movies (Why don't you try knocking me down), Star Wars (the originals), Godfather, Indiana Jones movies, and Back to the Future. Then there is the Crow, Magnolia, Royal Tennenbaums, Boogie Nights, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Casablanca and the amazing L.A. Story. Pride and Prejudice, Pulp Fiction is a must, as is Shakespeare in Love. Beautiful Girls. Snatch. Garden State. American Beauty. Shawshank Redemption. Primal Fear. Some Kind of Wonderful. Big Fish. Eight Crazy Nights. Dracula. Basically any movie that has some emotion to give.
If I have to numb my mind in order to go to sleep, I will drown my thoughts out with some reruns of Friends or Will and Grace, otherwise, I can't seem to find the time to waste on t.v. (Okay, my guilty pleasure is Grey's Anatomy, but don't tell anyone)
anything by Tom Robbins. Gatsby. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing. Catcher in the Rye. The Little Prince. The Prophet. Old books...more for the atmosphere they create. I have a collection of totally useless but very vintage encyclopedias.
Willis, Mother Teresa, Smurfette (dude...she was the only girl!!), Jane (well, hopefully she will be my hero in the future...we'll see), myself for staying alive all these years (knock on wood), and my mother.
