About Me

Replace my image with the URL of your own image-! !-END Block to Place Custom Banner at Top of Page-!At the age of 10 I discovered my passion for music. Coming from Hispanic roots I listened to a large assortment of music inspired by the Spanish culture. I began to write a lot of poetry to escape the city streets of Toronto where my poetry then became my lyrics. At 14 I moved from the busy multi-cultural city of Toronto to the suburbs where I then began taking my writing more serious and began rapping more. In grade 10 I founded the first Hip-Hop club ever made at an Ontario high school, at the Hip-Hop club students could get together to rap, sing, break-dance, beat box, DJ, we even bought canvas so students could do graffiti. Not only did we get to express ourselves through the elements of hip-hop, more student involvement, but we also got a chance to show that “Hip-Hop” or “Rap” isn’t all about gangs, violence, drug promotion or materialistic brainwashing. With a greater success then expected we did performances for school events such as youth involvement day, anti-bullying seminars, Remembrance day, Christmas assemblies, we even went to other high schools to perform. In my last year of high school I had my co-op placement at the music conservatory where my tasks were to help built a band recording studio, help set up instruments, stands, microphones, speakers, amplifiers and mixers for performances, and do professional sound checks. I also helped the owner of the Music conservatory host a series of concert events in which different types of musicians and artists performed all sorts of genres from blues, jazz, pop, folk, spoken word and salsa. These co-op experiences made me more open-minded and more appreciative of different types of music genres and the culture behind them. With my first demo out in early 2006 I was able to network and created a huge learning experience for myself. Following the release I did many shows, open mics, and battles in cities across the southern Ontario region. I resided in London, Ontario were I did one year of General arts & science at Fanshawe College. In addition to studying I kept busy networking and performing. I came in 1st place at the Urban Source infamous mc battle, got airplay on 106.9 FM the X, London’s local hip-hop and R&B station, and got the honour to open up for more established artist such as Shad K, Classified, and DL Incognito. Since my demo release I feel I have grown and developed as a person and artist, thus a name change was considered necessary. ”Diaz”, is what better represents, my style and culture. I am a bilingual artist I have Hip-Hop tracks and Spanish reggaerap tracks as well. I am currently attending Harris Institute for Recording Arts Management to get a broader sense of how this cutthroat industry operates and in the process of recording an EP . Some of my bigger career highlights are: getting a chance to open up for multi-platinum recording artist Slim from “112”, Got 1st place at the “rock da mic” battle in Hamilton summer of 2006, and recently got 1st place at “Pass da mic” battle in London. To reach Diaz for shows, production, battles, info on where to purchase demos, mixtapes or to just holla Email: [email protected] THE BATTLES BELOW!!!!!!!
