About Me

Me and Caren at home trying to stay sane with 3 crazy kids.Me and Caren in Wilmington North Carolina. Not much to say.

My Interests

Contrasts like red on white, things that have no distinct borders, and misunderstood elements of the mundane.

I'd like to meet:

Whoever invented Mapquest.com so I can punch him in the face.
Who Should Paint You: Salvador Dali
You're a complex, intense creature who displays many layers.
There's no way a traditional portrait could ever capture you! What Artist Should Paint Your Portrait?

Music:

Most sounds both discordant and otherwise. Mostly roots music (old timey, traditional folk, Celtic, gypsie, etc.) some bluegrass, and Tom Waits (he is a category of his own). Actually, I wish I were gay so I could heart Tom Waits, but I'm not so I don't. We'll leave it at being a manly sense of respect and admiration.

Movies:

Buffalo '66, anything by Chaplin, Adaptation, Down by Law, Dead Man, Life is Beautiful, It's a Wonderful Life, Henry Fool, Fight Club, and documentaries. I think everyone in America NEEDS to see Sicko and anything else by Mikey Moore.

Television:

I continue to hate t.v. I am Jack's overwhelming sense of complete disgust and overall rage when I see t.v. (Can you name the movie that inspired that sentence? See above for a hint.)

Books:

Seven Storie Mountain and New Seeds of Contemplation by Thomas Merton, anything by C.S. Lewis, St. Francis by G.K. Chesterton, poetry of Kahlil Gibran, Confessions of St. Augustine, The Imitation of Christ, St. Therese's diary, Pierced by the Sword, The Little Flowers of St. Francis Madman by I forget who and can't look because I leant it to my mother-in-law, Father Elijah by Michael O'Brian, A Good Man is Hard to Find and Other Stories by Flannery O'Conner, most books by Graham Greene, and my alltime favorites The Grapes of Wrath and The Winter of our Discontent.

Heroes:

Jesus, my guardian angel, the Blessed Virgin, and my dad.
