Who & what is 'Invisible Children'?
“Invisible Children, Inc.†is a non –profit organization. We, as a company, are dedicated to providing financial resources to “invisible children†by documenting their true, untold stories in a creative and relevant way, resulting in positive change. Our dream is to inspire the young and young at heart, to challenge their thinking, and empower them to “be the change they wish to see in the world†through action. Our goals, or “BIG IDEASâ€, can be simplified to three major objectives:First, exposing the effects of a 20 year-long war on the children of Northern Uganda by telling their stories in a relevant way.Secondly, empowering the individual viewer towards action (volunteering, donations, the bracelet campaign, political pressure, etc.).Finally, providing aid to the “invisible children†on the ground, in UgandaWho are you and what is this "Singapore"?
The Invsible Children Singapore, is a street team started by 4 people based in Singapore. Heider, Sameer Sadhu, Shannon Wee, & Nicolas Hartsuiker. We are just like you. 4 teenagers, all under 19, who strongly believe for this cause, and believe we can make a change. What is your mission?
Being in Singapore, we aim to raise awareness of the 'Invisible Children' campaign in Singapore, and hopefully through the power of you, through the rest of Asia. We hope we are able to make people talk, think, react, and spreading the world untill the World takes notice of whats going on.Where can I get the DVD?
According to the Invisible Children website, they currently do not ship to Singapore. However, we will be screening the DVD at numerous locations, and we hope you will be able to view the screenings. We will keep you update on the time and locations of the screening. What can I do to help?
We would like for everyone to go to www.invisiblechildren.com and educate yourself on what is going on in Uganda. Like we said, we will be screening the documentary on various dates, but if you are able to, please buy a copy of the dvd, and join the bracelate campaign at www.visiblechildren. We need your time, talent, and your money. If you dont have money, there is one thing you can do for free. We need you for the the 'Global Night Commute" on April 29th 2006. Every night in Uganda, thousands of children leave their homes out of fear abduction and walk miles into town to sleep. For one night, we are asking the same of you. You dont need money. For one night, all we ask for is you, your sleeping bag, and all your friends to do the same. Sign up for the 'Global Commute' at http://invisiblechildren.com/theMovement/globalNightCommute/
for it so you can be accounted for it.Where does the money go we give to 'Invisible Children' go?
The people at 'Invisible Children' hope to be able to send these children to school so they can get the education they're asking for. Some money right now is also going towards basic start-up costs that support our efforts in spreading the word about this documentary and what's happening in Uganda. What is Invisible Children working on right now?
