resistance and subversion; comics; queerspawn; wildlife especially birds and squirrels; politics; transformative justice; earth-based spirituality; the SIMS!; um...nerdiness
I don't really want to meet people through MySpace. I would prefer to connect with people I've already met.
In my cd player right now: the new indigo girls album. oh, those indigo girls. they always come through. (though this one isn't as good as Become You).I'm a fan of the old-fashioned dykes, you know, indigo girls, tracy chapman, lucinda williams, bitch and animal, sweet honey and the rock, i'll even admit that i like Melissa Etheridge. (actually I love Melissa Etheridge, particularly her early pre-fame years).other folks that i've recently become fans of include beck, postal service, iron and wine, Ryan Adams, and Dead Prez. yes, these are all 'men' but don't worry, i don't gender-segregate my music. it just accidentally happened like that here. purely coincidental.and, of course I was raised by a couple of hippie-ish lesbians, so some janis joplin, beatles, joni mitchell, jimi hendrix, rolling stones, or pink floyd will always make me a happy camper.
There are currently 300 movies in my netflix queue. Some of my favorite all-time movies include Fail-Safe, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Fargo. Some movies I've watched and enjoyed recently include Running with Scissors, Stranger than Fiction and Jesus Camp. Some movies I've watched recently and NOT enjoyed include The Last King of Scotland, Babel, and Strangers with Candy.
my housemate and I netflix various tv shows. We finished watching CSI, the L-word, and the Sopranos and don't have concrete future plans. I'm still painfully making my way through "West Wing" despite it's nauseating and violent Liberalism.
Oh, I could go on and on about books...Currently reading Incite's Anthology The Color of Violence. It's fucking amazing. I don't know what the fuck that Bridge We Call Home Was -- The Color of Violence is the rightful 'sequel' to This Bridge Called My Back. I suggest you read this immediately!!I've been on a bit of a book buying binge lately and organized my bookshelf by Library of Congress #; over a series of long and manic evenings. One of my buddies asked, "you knew their library of congress number???" no, of course not! I had to look each one up on the computer individually.I got new magazine subscriptions and have been enjoying Against the Current, Harper's, and The Nation, on a regular basis. No newspapers, but listen to KPFA (local radio) everyday.
What would Buffy Do?
