The Sads are a Prague-based rock and roll/country band. Their melancholy melodies, combined with their lofi-indie sound, is compared most often with that of The Silver Jews or The Magnetic Fields.
Singer and guitarist Steven Rusling is responsible for the lyrical and musical composition, though Matt Ford's bellowing cello most defines their sound. The drummer Mark Tierney produces lush, orchestral sounds from a snare drum and busted cymbal. Nick Jennings' rhythmic bass provides the music a spine, while Marc Cram offers counter melodies on guitar and saxophone.
The Sads are the 6th best band in the world. Their sound is analogous to sitting in a cold vinyl chair, shirtless.
