About Me

"Music is part of us, and either ennobles or degrades our behavior." - Boethius '...if my honesty is to be my undoing, then so be it...but i will not go quietly.' - a cool line said by sean penn in 'the assasination of richard nixon'.Lead singer/frontman/songwriter in the uk underground's most awesome glam/sleaze/punk/rock band/riot Smilex for six years and counting... our album '7' is out now everywhere...go get it! ;-) also have a couple of other projects like the funk electro duo thang Boywithatoy with Phill ex-of the Rock Of Travolta now of the delta frequency plus now in CHATEAUX69 with my brother grant and various other collaborators! i do this bluesy semi-acoustic band/collective called the prohibition smokers club (formerly known as Smokers Die Younger) with Luke ex-of Verbal Kink, plus various other local talent for which i am currently working on an album! i have some other bits and bobs in the pipeline too - try to keep busy- idle hands being the devil's work and all that. this page is mainly for my solo recorded stuff so it doesnt sit idly on my overburdened shelves! any feedback is welcome! i got a little radioplay for joker on download bbc radio oxford and some good reviews too! :-) new stuff on the way soon: by march i hope! Also am a ocassional producer and do mobile recording. have worked with the likes of lapsus linguae, the rock of travolta (xfm sessions), the half rabbits, at risk, the walk-off, harlette, mondo cada, 20/20 vision, dave 'hoochie' moneyshots, allyoumiss/caliber, sadly now-defunct - meanwhile...back in communist russia, tristan and the troubadours, verbal kink, kamikaze kittens and mr duck. most recently i did a new song for liam ing reeves! obviously produce/record lots of smilex and all the psc stuff too! like to only make a few good records a year for my own sanity's sake! Also co-run Oxford label Quickfix Recordings (go visit our site please!) with the long-suffering terri (also smilex's manager, glutton for punishment that she is!) releasing gems like youthmovie soundtrack strategies debut 'let's get going...' as well as cd's by caliber/all you miss, verbal kink, smilex, half rabbits, the walk off, at risk, mondo cada, 20/20 vision, back by six (now greenacre) and harlette as well as remixes by sunnyvale noise sub element, dj juicy, the young knives, boywithatoy and many more. we have been putting on wicked gigs all over oxford for years now and doing our best to promote anything that's worth shouting about in some shape or form...we have had something to do with helping mostly every oxford band u have heard of and many u have not! which rocks lots but tires us out loads! presented, produced and funded the local music show for oxford on passion 107.9 for over 2 years til dumped in favour of pre-programmed indie show! a new show on ox4 started this march - a lot of fun! :-) every so often write reviews and stuff too for various zines & sites! (often using a nomme de plume!) but journos are scum so only like to dabble! ;-) i have other interests: movies, wrestling, comics etc but they all pale by comparison really...BORING EH?!

Sounds Like: what is in my head. messy as that may be!

And here's another inventive local maverick perhaps in need of some focus. Theatrically aggressive as frontman of gutter-rockers Smilex and sleazily camp as the voice of electro-funk duo Boywithatoy,...
