Carl Christian Tofte aka Nasa Dude, practically the “grand old man†of the Danish lo-fi rawk scene, has been churning out records and setting the Copenhagen indie underground on fire since the beginning of the 90’s, both as a solo artist as well as a member of the seminal Danish lo-fi punk outfit Obstinate Esther. Constantly traveling safely under the radar of all things mainstream, the urge to experiment and the will to push his own boundaries have always been the keystones of Tofte’s songwriting; thus, Tofte has played everything from Marxist spazz rock to Christian lo-fi punk (the latter is documented on the Obstinate Esther LP “Markens Liljerâ€, released in 2003).Even though Tofte has released a decent slew of records since the Nasa Dude debut 7†from 1995, there are still several albums worth of excellent songs left unreleased. Therefore, the small Danish D.I.Y. label Flameout Records is now releasing the Nasa Dude album “Ate Herâ€, a retrospective spanning the period 1995-2000. This was just before Tofte started singing in Danish, a change he explains in the song "Last American Song" by reffering to his "teenage vocabulary" in English! "Ate Her" features 18 songs (of which 16 are previously unreleased). The CD-R comes with a beautiful silk-screened cover and is released in a limited edition of 100 copies. It’s somewhat of a catch at $ 8 – e-mail Flameout (
