All too often, the art of heavy music is used to convey negativity. Tones of anger, darkness, contempt and violence make the medium a tired and one-dimensional affair. Even the most musically brilliant bands still perpetuate this ideal of testosterone-drenched ugliness.
Once in a while, a band comes along and chooses instead, to change the palette and diverge from the common path. That band is ACACIA.
ACACIA formed over a decade ago in London, Ontario, Canada, when Justin Wolfe, Luke Husband, Andy Burnett and Scott Watterton were barely on the threshold of adolescence.
Though their music emerged from early hardcore roots, ACACIA have over time, forged their own distinctive style of music that utilizes a vast array of influences to create a sound that is both soothing and abrasive.
The expansive, melodic, instrumental movements, the atmospheric layering effects and the chaotic geometrical soundscapes, fuse together to successfully access and unlock every human emotion. Sadness, humiliation and even joy are as aptly portrayed as are the equally human feelings of anger and frustration.
Riveting, entrancing and subtly beautiful, the music of ACACIA takes the listener on a journey unparalleled by other heavy bands.
