It took time for the four Baguio boys to learn that winning the 2006 Muziklaban Rock Challenge doesn't instantaneously free you from being a struggling artist. Winning the biggest rock competition in the Philippines is both gratifying and perilous. Much to their surprise they are now faced with a bigger task, what was once the simple knack for making cohesive noise transformed to a possible carreer in the industry. Where it all heads to will be a measure of what these boys are made of.
Like a streak of lightning, last year, the boys won the Redhorse Muziklaban Rock Challenge. The third time was their charm. Like a flood rushing down, the Eggz faced a barrage of gigs till about December of 2006. They have recorded one song under their new label VIVA(Grace) for the Muziklaban Compilation and are looking forward to release a full length album in the summer of 2007.
From blues, to funk, progressive, to glam, emo to metal, the eggz have been repeatedly asked what genre they are. Even to the point of dissappointing the leather laden lad, when the boys once claimed to be Prog Metal, learning that Genre may be constricting but necessary for their listeners to know what to expect, the eggz once decided to run with Disco Screamo Punk Metal, still it didn't stick. Although their listeners have placed them under Emo they insist that things might change, especially preference. For now they are content to be classified under Alternative Rock.
The raging sea has calmed, now its time to begin anew for the Eggz. They are out working on new material and rearranging old. And learning the backstreets of their new home - Manila.
We thank all the bands we've shared the stage with, our brethren from the mountain tops and from the archipalego, all the people who supported us, those who hated us for pushing us further, and thank you!
