About Me
October 2001. The history of Land of Mordor begins in a peculiar manner, initially Gonzalo assembled several musicians and looked for a rehearsal room, but some members of the band were not filled with too much enthusiasm, they left the band and so, when Roberto (guitars) and Javi (drums) joined the band, there was the very first gig of LAND OF MORDOR, in July 2002. That gig and the next one were played without bassist, but in August they met Jedi (Javi), bassist up to current date, it’s the beginning of LAND OF MORDOR as a band. A month later they performed a show at a private party, and the next day they recorded a demo in very bad conditions. This demo was uploaded to Internet and tons of people downloaded it. After this strange beginning, the owner of a Pub asked them to play in a concert; it was the first time that the band played in decent conditions, with sound technicians, radio broadcast... And it had a good response from the public... Some weeks later, they played at "Sala La Cueva" in Orihuela; LOM is the first metal band that has played there. It was a huge success. After some time and after moving to Murcia, the band performed a show in the most famous concert hall in this city, some weeks before the show they had sold 300 tickets, and the show was again a success. Sometime later the band added one new member, Hector Iglesias (keyboards). The band entered Tower Track studios (91 Suite, Amalgama, Sealen...) on July 7th to record their first CD...The Awakening.., 13 tracks and 48 min. of intense Metal with the collaboration of José Cano (singer of Centinela), Damián Romero (singer of Sealen), Santiago Iglesias (professional guitar player), a professional narrator, Felipe Nicolás, and a male chorus formed for this recording only (Morgul Voices). A little while ago, the formation of the band changed, sadly we had to say good-bye to our drummer, Fº Javier Mora, who decided to leave the band, and after some time of searching we met a new member, VÃctor Gómez, proceeding from another band, who joined LOM. And the other member to leave was their latest keyboarder Héctor Iglesias, but was substituted by Raymond Santiago, and with this formation the band was completed. After playing some gigs to promote their music across Spain, the band had a new goal in their career; compose new tracks for a new album, investing several months in that labour. After that, LOM entered in La Sala de Máquinas Studio... But this time the band had some changes in the lineup, Victor, Roberto and German (vocals) decided to leave the band, but LOM found really great musicians to replace them such as Pedro (ex Hole of Mankind) that recorded all of the drums. Gonzalo recorded all guitars and arrangements in studio. The voices of this new demo was recorded by Raymond Santiago (Keyboards), Alex VroloK (ex Hole of Mankind, guitarist in Demised, Alex has another project called VroloK D.), who decided to join LOM playing guitars, Juan Antonio (ex Demised) and a special collaboration, Elisa C. MartÃn from Dreamaker in “A Kiss of Hopeâ€. Juan Antonio decided to join the band but he left LOM some months later due to diverse problems. A good friend of LOM, Rubén Picazo (Gothmog, Cain’s Dinasty) helped the band in several gigs and so Alex decided to take the roll of vocalist.
Land Of Mordor's last gigs: Baron Rojo (Hellin-Albacete) Rock Stars Festival (Saratoga, Sherpa, Centinela, Harakiri, Forever Slave...), spring mini-tour (Madrid, Valencia, Murcia...) Dreamaker (Alicante), Coyote Ugly (Alicante). But this is not the end of this story… Raymond Santiago left the band due to personal matters but is still working with Land of Mordor in musical arrangements and Darren, a new keyboardist, enters the band and is actively involved in the composition of several tracks.
So, the Land of Mordor’s lineup is:
- Gonzalo: Lead Guitars
- Pedro: Drums
- Jedi: Bass
- Darren: Keyboards
- Alex: Vocals and Guitars
… Alea Jacta Est…
